<p>Bengaluru: The <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/namma-metro">Namma Metro</a> ridership dropped marginally in May, with 7.56 lakh passengers using the service per day on average.</p>.<p>According to data provided by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (<a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/bmrcl">BMRCL</a>), a total of 2,34,57,821 passengers travelled by metro trains in May, or an average of 7,56,704 per day. The highest ridership in a day was 8,39,924, recorded on May 19.</p>.<p>The 7.56 lakh average daily ridership recorded in May is slightly lower than the 7.62 lakh mark achieved in April. Metro ridership has declined since the BMRCL increased fares by an average of 45 per cent on February 9.</p>.Hopes soar for Namma Metro Pink Line, BEML promises 20 trains by March 2026.<p>The average daily ridership, which was 8.03 lakh in January this year, dropped to 7.49 lakh in February and 7.24 lakh in March.</p>.<p>A senior BMRCL official said ridership had begun to recover and that the June numbers would likely surpass the January figure of 8.03 lakh.</p>.<p>“Our ridership is now well over 8 lakh on most days,” the official told <em><strong>DH</strong></em>.</p>.<p><strong>Maintenance work</strong></p>.<p>The BMRCL said it completed scheduled maintenance work between Halasuru and Trinity stations faster on Sunday morning and restored train services on the Baiyappanahalli-MG Road section at 7:55 am.</p>.<p>The BMRCL had earlier stated that train services between Baiyappanahalli and MG Road would start at 9 am on Sunday, against the usual time of 7 am, due to the scheduled maintenance.</p>.<p>However, the BMRCL said it was able to complete the work faster than expected. Accordingly, train services between Baiyappanahalli and MG Road began at 7:55 am.</p>
