<p>Bengaluru: A special NIA court has sentenced three accused to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment in the August 11, 2020, KG Halli police station attack case.</p><p>The convicts — Syed Ikramuddin alias Syed Naveed (Accused 14), Syed Asif (Accused 16), and Mohammed Atif (Accused 18) — had pleaded guilty.</p><p>The court found them guilty under IPC sections 120B (7 years), 143 (6 months), 144 (2 years), 145 (2 years), 147 (2 years), 148 (3 years), 188 (6 months), 353 (2 years), 427 (2 years), 435 (5 years); Section 2 of the Karnataka Prevention of Destruction and Loss of Property Act (3 years); and sections 16, 18, and 20 (7 years) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Each was fined Rs 36,000.</p><p>"The substantial sentences imposed on Accused No 14, 16, and 18 shall run concurrently. The period spent in judicial custody shall be set off under Section 428 of the CrPC. The entire fine recovered shall be applied towards defraying the expenses incurred in the prosecution,” the court stated.</p>.Bengaluru: Gelatin sticks, detonators found near Kalasipalyam bus terminal .<p>The case is posted to August 2 for trial against the other accused.</p><p>The violence began around 8.45 pm on August 11, 2020, when a crowd gathered outside the KG Halli police station, demanding the arrest of Naveen, the nephew of former MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy, for allegedly posting derogatory content about Prophet Mohammed on Facebook.</p><p>Although the police registered a case at the Devarajeevanahalli (DJ) station, the crowd outside the KG Halli police station grew.</p><p>Despite curfew under CrPC Section 144, the mob pelted stones and petrol bombs at the station and torched government and private vehicles. The police opened fire, injuring one person who later died in hospital.</p><p>Twelve vehicles were reportedly gutted in the incident, the prosecution said.</p>
