Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Commissioner M Lakshminarayana's signature was allegedly forged and the official seal was misused to release Rs 49.52 crores to contractors.

“The signature has been forged on June 11, 2014, at the office of the BBMP’s Chief Accounts Officer to pay the contractors. The case workers, supervisor, Deputy Controller of Finance and the chief accounts officer ought to sign before the commissioner puts his signature. But nothing of that sort has taken place here. The document rather has just the signature of the commissioner,” alleged BBMP ruling party leader N R Ramesh meet here on Friday.

He alleged Chief Accounts Officer Veera Gowda Patil, First Division Assistant Sanjeev Murthy and other middlemen had a role in misappropriation of funds. Palike Commissioner M Lakshminarayana said that there was a slight disparity in his signature.

“There is something unusual about the procedure that has been followed. To throw light on reality, a complaint has been lodged at Halasuru Gate police station,” he added.

Ramesh said that he has lodged a complaint with the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force in connection with issue of fake occupancy certificates.
