A health officer of a primary health centre (PHC) in Kalaburagi has been suspended for dereliction of duty.

Health and Family Welfare Department commissioner Subodh Yadav on Friday issued the order suspending the health officer, Dr Dilshad Banu. Noting that Banu was absent without permission when Kalaburagi zilla panchayat CEO visited the PHC at Farahatabad, Yadav said the health officer has remained absent from work for the past four days.

“There were 36 deliveries in January, 42 in February and 23 till March 27 performed by nurses. The health officer attended outpatients two days in January, seven days in February and seven days till March 27. The health department has rolled out many programmes but the health officer has failed to pass on the benefits to the people,” the suspension order said, quoting a report on Banu's performance.
