Registration for medical, dental seats likely today

Registrations for medical and dental seats will begin at 5 pm on Wednesday.

Candidates will have to register on the KEA website (www.kea.kar.nic.in) before 5.30 pm on July 9.

Only those candidates who have scored above the prescribed minimum in NEET are eligible to register for the admissions.

Only Karnataka candidates are entitled for seats under the SC, ST and OBC criteria. The schedule for document verification will be available in the website from July 10. Candidates from other states will also have to register for counselling.

However, they are not eligible for government (college and government-quota seats).

A total of 46,766 candidates are on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) state merit list.

Fee hike

“While the fee for government seats remains the same, the fee for government-quota and institution seats will increase by 10%,” Director of Medical Education Dr Sachidananda said. The Karnataka Examinations Authority will conduct counselling for all seats, including those under the NRI and management quota.

A total of 3,490 dental seats, including 700 seats in deemed university colleges, are available in the state’s 46 colleges.

CET counselling

KEA has extended the first round of counselling for engineering, architecture and other professional courses till July 7.

Candidates have time until Friday to exercise their choice, pay their fees, download the admission order and report to their colleges.

The schedule for the second round of counselling has also been revised. Students get time from July 11 to 14 to reorder, modify or delete their options.

The allotment of seats will be announced on July 17. Students will have to exercise their choice by July 20 and report to their allotted colleges by July 21.
