Residents near Bellandur Lake have spotted fresh smoke at the centre of the waterbody on Sunday afternoon, just hours after the major blaze had been doused.

They said smoke still curls up from some pockets of the lake. "We spotted it somewhere near HAL Challaghatta," said a resident.

BDA officials, however, rejected claims that fresh fire is brewing in the lake. "The smoke at the center of the lake is continuing from Saturday," said an official.

"Since fire tenders cannot reach the center of the lake, it is continuing. The smoke will subside naturally."

The fire department also
denied rumours of a fresh blaze.

Meanwhile, CV Raman Nagar residents reported flames emerging from garbage piles near the Kaggadasapura lake. They noticed the garbage smoldering near the lakebed.

"We've been cleaning the lake for the past couple of months. But a few continue to illegally dump garbage inside the lake. We're noticing the flames since Sunday morning," said Swarit Aggarwal, a resident of CV Raman Nagar.
