Rs 23-lakh stolen valuables seized from 12 thieves

Police have arrested a total of 12 suspected thieves and robbers, and seized Rs 23 lakh worth of stolen valuables from them.

The Basavanagudi police seized stolen gold jewellery, vehicles and other valuables — worth Rs 14 lakh — by arresting a five-member gang in Anekal.

Ramesh (24), Rangaswamy (22), both from Hosur Main Road, Nagaraj (22), Rajesh (25), both from Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu, and Shyamasundar (21), a resident of Hebbagodi, are believed to be involved in 15 thefts reported in Banashankari, Siddapura, Rajagopalanagar, JP Nagar, Anekal and Hebbagodi.

The KG Nagar police arrested four men, including a 17-year-old boy, and seized stolen gold chains, three motorbikes and four mobile phones — all valued at Rs 3 lakh — from them.

Girish (20), a resident of Banashankari 2nd Stage, Rohith (19), from Uttarahalli, Nagaraj (19), from Marenahalli, and the minor are accused of robbing people in KG Nagar, Girinagar, Rajajinagar, Basavanagudi, Koramangala and JP Nagar, police said.

The Thalaghattapura police arrested three suspected thieves and seized Rs 6.10 lakh worth of stolen goods from them. Manjunath (20), a resident of Konanakunte, Yeshwanth (21) and Krishna Urs (19), both from Subramanyapura, are said to be involved in thefts in Hulimavu and Thalaghattapura.
