When it comes to being fashion forward, it is no more just a women’s thing. Men are equally conscious of how they look and carry themselves. With the summer at its peak, many like to spend time by the beach, relaxing or probably sunbathing in style. Especially when it is a chance to show off those toned muscles, the boys sure like to sport the trendiest fashion.

At such times, knowing the latest beachwear trends can be a blessing. “Since it is getting really hot, I would suggest pale hues like mint blue, pale blue and rose quartz. Men can wear shirts and shorts made of linen, organic cotton, khadi and mash fabric while keeping the silhouette simple. They should sport a look that is simple yet functional in terms of dressing,” says designer Farah Sanjana.

She highlights that a long vest and T-shirts with zipper detail and fish prints are getting popular with fashionistas. For accessories, she suggests that a functional satchel bag to keep their necessities, a cap, sunglasses and sunscreen lotion are a must.

Talking about the trending prints this season, she says, “Aquatic, biological, floral and botanical prints are what people are looking for. They like to blend a very cruise and sporty look with a minimalistic chic look, which is of course the right way to go. Though stripes and checks are the classics, they don’t come out as very trendy and quirky.”

If your trip to a beach is for a conference or a formal occasion, Farah recommends one to go for a linen suit teamed with a linen shirt or a vest and linen shorts.

Beach dressing is all about fun dressing, so the more vibrant one looks, the more zest is added to one’s look. From vibrant colours to prints and detailing, men have varied choices to choose from, unlike the yesteryears, where they would prefer their mundane round-neck T-shirt teamed with shorts.

“This season, trunks and board shorts with prints are in. These can be teamed with vests, reflector shades and flipflops to complete the look. While at a beach, men should keep it minimal when it comes to accessorising — a sportswatch and beaded bracelets are enough to give a cool look,” explains Allen Claudius George, a fashion and lifestyle blogger. According to him, graphic and abstract prints with colour blocking patterns are trending. He also points out that bright hued bottoms and pastel colour T-shirts and shirts are the trendsetters.

Echoing the opinion, designer Anasha Thakkar says, “Summer is all about vibrant and eye-catching shades. The colour palette for this season includes peach echo, snorkel blue, serenity, buttercup, limpet shell, lilac gray, fiesta, green flash and iced coffee. Energetic graphic prints in the above mentioned colours are likely to elevate the style quotient in and out of water.” She highlights that some of the accessories that men can sport while at a beach are a crisp unbuttoned shirt teamed with a pair of classic linen or samurai shorts and a pair of shades, a beanie cap and flip flops. This season is all about balancing style and comfort.

“A pair of flipflops or sockless loafers is always welcome at the beach, but now the trend is more towards wave waterproof shoes. Beachwear is always open to different interpretations, where colours are uniquely marked by combinations of bright and light.”

And as to how one can complete their formal beach look, she highlights that comfort is the key. Anasha details, “A beach look can be completed by accesorising with a pocket square or a tie (never both). One can neatly gel their hair, wear a colourful watch and comfortable footwear. To add a zing to the whole look, a fashionable beach bag does the trick.” Pointing out a few beach essentials, she adds, “It’s important to check your beach bag essentials. A beach towel, sunglasses, headphones, a pair of shorts, a waterproof watch, flipflops, a perfume and a good sunscreen are a must.” With everything in place, it’s time to hit the beach in style and make those heads turn!
