<p>Bengaluru: A six-member team from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) arrived in Bengaluru on Monday to assess three sites finalised by the state government for Bengaluru’s second international airport.</p>.<p>The AAI team comprises Vikram Singh, K Srinivasa Rao (HAL), Manuj Bhardwaj, Sachchida Nand Pandey, Santosh Kumar Bharti and Amaan Chhipa. They were given a briefing by Khushboo Goel Chowdhary, Managing Director, Karnataka State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation.</p>.<p>Industries & Infrastructure Development Minister M B Patil said AAI will only look at technical suitability of the locations. “After that, we’ll have to get a feasibility and viability study done,” he said. </p>.<p>On Tuesday, the AAI team will visit two locations on Kanakapura Road and one on Kunigal-Nelamangala road. On Wednesday, the AAI team will meet Patil. </p>.Indigo flight lands under full emergency conditions in Mumbai due to bomb threat.<p><strong>Study on industrial pollution</strong></p>.<p>Industries Minister M B Patil on Monday asked officials to commission a study on pollution being caused by 215 industrial areas in the state. </p>.<p>At a high-level meeting, Patil asked for the study to be done by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) or organisations of that stature. </p>.<p>“The government would have laid down conditions while providing approvals. It’s important to check what happens thereafter. While encouraging industries, we must be mindful of their impact on land, water, air, agricultural and humans. It’s now inevitable to protect our resources,” Patil said, according to a statement. </p>.<p>Patil said that high-level teams would be formed to study industrial pollution. “These teams will visit all industrial areas. The teams will also recommend corrective steps to be taken by the industries,” he said. </p>
