Last Updated 19 July 2013, 20:44 IST

All the Associate NCC Officers under the Karnataka and Goa Directorate of NCC are being sensitised on dealing with cadets, especially girls, following the arrest of Christ University ANO for alleged physical harassment of a 19-year-old student.

Sources in the NCC said sensitisation process began following instructions from the Directorate and that even other NCC staff.

Captain Ajay Pavithran was arrested by the local police last week after a girl cadet of the University consumed poison citing his harassment.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Air Commodore C Rajeev, Deputy Director General Karnataka and Goa Directorate said: “Presently an inquiry is being conducted by the University, based on the findings of which the Directorate will consider taking any action.”

The VI ACMM granted conditional bail to Pavithran on Thursday. The university has suspended him pending an internal inquiry.
