Seshadri's 'Vimukti' to kick off Chitravarsha

Aimed at propogating better cinema culture among the diaspora, it is being kicked off by pioneer of New Wave Indian cinema and Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Shyam Benegal on Saturday at 5.30 pm.

The event, being held at J S S Auditorium, Shivarathreswara Kendra, Jayanagar 8th Block, will also be graced by eminent Kannada litterateur U R Anantha Murthy.  It will be followed by screening of P Seshadri’s national award-winning Kannada film Vimukti at 6.30 pm.

The long line-up of films to be screened on subsequent weekends include P R Ramadas Naidu’s Beli Matthu Hola, Abhay Simha’s Gubbachigalu, Shivadwaj’s Tulu film Gaggara, G Murthy’s Shankara Punyakoti, Umashanker Swamy’s Banada Neralu and Girish Kasarvalli’s Gulabi Talkies.

Chitrasamooha is engaged in promotion, awareness and appreciation of excellence in cinema among common citizens and is spearheaded by renowned filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli. It also conducts “Nammoora Chitrotsava” taking meaningful cinema to the doorsteps of people across the State.
