Kalandar Khan, a police sub-inspector attached to the Bengaluru International Airport police station, was suspended on the charge of dereliction of duty on Friday.

According to the DCP (North East) B R Ravikante Gowda, Khan allegedly helped a foreigner, who stayed in India on a fake passport and visa, to travel out of the country. Khan did not book him under the relevant sections of the IPC which helped the foreigner travel out of India, he added.

The incident, which took place a year ago, came to the notice during a recent review meeting. A committee was constituted to investigate the case. Khan was found guilty.

Based on a report, the commissioner issued the suspension order on Friday. Khan was suspended 15 times for similar offences. He is due for retirement in 15 days.
