What is GPR?
Ground-penetrating radar is a geophysical technique that is most effective with buried sites where artifacts and features of interest are buried two or three meters down but has occasionally been used for identifying more deeply buried deposits. GPR uses a surface antenna that sends radar waves into the earth. The waves are deflected as they run into subterranean objects and the time lapse between the transmission and reception helps experts create three-dimensional maps of the buried remains.
