Suitcase scare in City

At 4 pm a customer of the bunk noticed the abandoned suitcase and alerted the staff. They called up the police immediately.

The Cubbon Park police rushed to the spot. They informed the bomb detection and disposal squad, who rushed to the spot.

Everyone heaved a sigh of relief after the squad staff declared that there were no explosives inside the suitcase. The Cubbon Park police took the suitcase with them to the station. They found a few signed cheques worth more than Rs 15 lakh. They also found the contact number of Srinivas from R T Nagar. Srinivas told the police someone diverted his attention, stole the suitcase and absconded and that he was about to lodge a complaint.

Pedestrian killed

Muniyappa (55), a pedestrian was knocked down by a hit-and-run vehicle near Nandi Punjabi dhaba while he was crossing Bellary Road on Sunday night. The driver drove off after the accident, police said.
