Tusker suffering from Pneumonia dies in Bannerghatta

An 8-year-old tusker, Ashwathama died after it collapsed on Friday morning.

The tusker was taking a dip in the pond inside the elephant enclosure at Bannerghatta Biological Park when he collapsed.

According to the BBP's veterinarian Dr Sujay, said that the animal had acute pneumonia and the post mortem report revealed that the animal had a respiratory attack.

The tusker was an orphaned calf that was rescued from the Maralwadi forest of the Kanakapura forest range in May 2011. The visceral samples of the animal has been collected and sent to Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals (IAH and VB) for final diagnosis.
