Whether it is for a cup of ‘Cutting chai’ on a rainy day or a casual snack with friends, ‘Cup Shup’ is a new favourite  among youngsters in the city. Tucked in a small lane in Indiranagar, this place has a relaxed ambience with a very homely vibe.

The interiors are quite quirky and the interesting part is how a small parking lot in a house has been turned into a cafe that can accommodate quite a few people. Though it is not a very spacious eatery, the place is always packed.

They have crafted interesting combinations of dishes and there’s a lot of variety to look forward to.

The owner of the place Rumni Mazumder believes that the city is a melting pot of cultures and cuisines and it would not have been fair to start a place that concentrates only on a specific cuisine.

“I decided to open a cafe that has something for everyone and not just a particular group of people. That is why our menu is more on the fusion side. From burgers with a ‘vada pav’ twist to a wrap that has a ‘falafel’ taste,” says Rumni.

If you are visiting this place for a cup of tea, make sure to ask for the ‘Chicken cutlet’ and a plate of ‘Paneer Amritsari’ for starters. The cutlets and paneer fritters are filling and the portions are just right for one person.

The ‘Paneer Amritsari’ is crunchy and filled with soft cubes of ‘paneer’. However,  the salt is a little less and can be improved upon.

All the tea lovers, if you are looking for that perfect cup of ‘Cutting chai’, this is one of those few places where you’ll truly relish the tea. A perfect balance of milk and tea leaves   forming the perfect brew that we always ask for.  The combos that are listed on the menu look interesting.

Try out their ‘aloo’ and the ‘chicken keema parathas’ as they are one of the best sellers here. And if pasta is your weakness, this place will serve you some good home-style pasta with a wide range of choices.

The best part is that everything you order is freshly made and served to your table and you can feel the freshness in every bite.

The service, however, can be a little faster as people don’t want to wait long for their food. Even the staff should be around so that customers don’t have to wait to place their order.

‘Cup Shup’ is located at 1099, 5th Cross, opposite Corporation Bank, 12th Main, Indiranagar. For details, call  49652860.
