He was speaking at a function organised here by Bazm-E-Nizwan, an organisation working to uplift the status of Muslim women from economically weaker sections of society. Bazm-e-Niswan distributed scholarships worth Rs 55 lakh to more than 1,700 poor Muslim girls pursuing higher studies.
The minister said that this is for the first time in Karnataka, that scholarships are given to Muslim women so that they can pursue higher studies.
