The programme began with the presentation of the annual report followed by the inaugural speech by Commissioner of Police (Bangalore City) Shankar Bidari. T Somasekhar, Chairman, Indian Academy Group of Institutions spoke about how the Academy has grown from just three students to the present strength of 4000 students.

The university rank holders and those who bagged cent per cent marks in subjects, the best outgoing student award and the class toppers were  honoured. The cultural programmes were woven around the theme Aikeyathe, meaning unity in diversity. The students put together a colourful dance depicting the various communities from across the country. There was also a fusion song of five different languages.

Among those present at the functions were the staff, students and parents of the college. The students had a lot to say about the infrastructure of the college. Robert Lourembam, a BBM student said, “I am from Manipur and singing in a South Indian language was a challenge for me. It was my dream to sing in Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu. That finally came true,” said Robert. Ugyen Thinley from Bhutan, a student of BCA, was overwhelmed by Shankar Bidari. “It was nice to hear a cop speak. The annual day is something that we look forward to. Receiving an award is a great honour,” he said.
