'Work is important, but health is non-negotiable': Bengaluru CEO after facing unexpected medical emergency

In a recent incident, CEO and founder of Dazeinfo Media and Research Pvt Ltd, Amit Mishra shared a post on social media about suffering an unexpected medical emergency while at work.

The CEO wrote in LinkedIn his post how he experienced uncontrollable nosebleeds while working on his laptop as his blood pressure shot up to 230, landing him in ICU.

In his post he wrote, “By the time I rushed to Apollo Hospital, I had lost a significant amount of blood. The emergency team struggled for 20 minutes before temporarily stopping the bleeding. But then came the real shock - my blood pressure was 230. No headaches, no dizziness, no warnings, no history of BP, just an unexpected crisis.”

“The big question: How did my BP shoot up so high and suddenly dropped without warning?” he added.

While doctors are yet to determine the cause of his sudden rise of blood pressure, as stated by the CEO, he also mentioned that it was very important to prioritise health amid all hustle culture at workplaces.

“ Work is important, but health is non-negotiable. We often ignore small signs, thinking we’re fine, until we’re not,” he added in his social media post.

Stressing upon the importance of health, the CEO added, “ If you’re reading this, let this be your reminder: Listen to your body. Don’t wait for a wake-up call like mine.”

Many people wished him a speedy recovery and some also took the opportunity to share their perspectives about giving health a priority over work and in today’s fast-paced professional world.

A user commenting on the post said, “ Wishing you a speedy recovery Amit. Get well soon. Perhaps this was an alarm for all of us here to not take our body for granted.”
