A 25-year-old youth who was on a rigorous diet and exercise for six-pack abdomen, took ill soon after returning from the gymnasium on March 4. He died at a private hospital on Tuesday due to brain haemorrhage, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Kiran, a resident of Nagarthpet. Police said that Kiran started vomiting and fell unconscious after he returned home from the gym on March 4 evening. His parents shifted him to a private hospital and a day later he was admitted at Mallige Hospital. On Tuesday noon, the doctors declared that Kiran died due to brain haemorrhage.

Following a complaint by the parents,  the Halasuru Gate police questioned Kiran’s friends and family members when it came to light that Kiran was working out rigorously at a gym for the past one month. They also stated that on the advice of his trainer, Kiran was consuming supplements and  steroid injections to increase his stamina and energy level, the police added. His blood samples have been sent to Mumbai to ascertain the cause of his death. The parents of Kiran have lodged a complaint against his trainer and gym owner.

“For now, we have registered a case of unnatural death. Further action could be taken only after the receipt of a medical report on the cause of death,” a senior police officer said.
