<p>Kalaburagi: BJP leaders staged a protest against the Congress here on Saturday, and condemned the police officials’ reluctance to lodge an FIR against the Congress leaders who are facing charges of hatching a conspiracy to murder some BJP leaders.</p><p>Hundreds of the party workers gathered at Jagat Circle and raised slogans against the government. They also set tyres on fire. </p><p>The protesters demanded the suspension of the police inspector, accusing him of showing disrespect towards the MLA. They also formed a human chain, disrupting vehicular movement for more than three hours. Charging that the state government has failed to maintain law and order, they demanded the resignation of District In-charge Minister Priyank Kharge.</p><p>“Attempts are being made to threaten the BJP and leaders of other Hindu organisations. The police inspector treated the MLA and other leaders of the party as criminals when they approached him to register a complaint.</p><p>“There are doubts about the involvement of District In-charge Minister Priyank Kharge in this case.</p><p>“A conspiracy has been hatched to murder the BJP leaders by involving rowdies and inter-state criminals, causing an atmosphere of fear in <br>the state”, the protesters alleged.</p><p>Urging the government to hand over the cases pertaining to the contractor’s suicide, plot to murder BJP leaders and corruption in allotment of tender to the CBI for probe, they contended that the state investigative agencies are not trustworthy.</p><p>Receiving a memorandum, DCP Kannika Sikriwal assured of interrogating the police inspector and conducting a thorough probe into the cases. </p><p>BJP rural district unit president Shivaraj Patil Raddewadagi, former MLA Dattatreya Patil Revoor, former mayor Vishal Dargi, other leaders Amarnath Patil, Shivakanth Mahajan, Giriraj Yalameli, Arun Patil Kudalahangaraga, Sharabasappa Pappa were present. </p><p><strong>High drama</strong></p><p>The high drama prevailed outside the Station Bazar police station on Friday night following a heated argument between police officials and BJP leaders whose plea to register the complaint was rejected. There was a verbal altercation between MLA Basavaraj Mattimadu and police inspector Shakeel Angadi. </p><p>Expressing displeasure against the police officials, former MLA Rajkumar Patil Telkur argued that the party leaders were forced to sit for more than three-and-half hours in the police station and the police refused the appeal to lodge the complaint. The police officials have given acknowledgement stating that they would move as per the <br>direction of the court, he added.</p><p><strong>Complaint</strong></p><p>Meanwhile, BJP city unit president Chandu Patil has lodged a complaint against Minister Priyank Kharge’s associate Raju Kapanur and other Congress leaders Nandakumar Nagabhujange, Gorakhnath Sajjan, rowdy-sheeter Pratap Dheer Patil (Pappu Patil), Manoj Sejawal and Ramangouda Patil. The contractor had also accused a few of the leaders of giving life threats to him in his death note. </p><p>The deceased contractor, Sachin Panchal has mentioned in his death note the names of Andola seer Siddalinga Swamiji, Kalaburagi rural MLA Basavaraj Mattimadu, other BJP leaders Manikanth Rathod and Chandu Patil against whom the Congress leaders allegedly hatched a conspiracy to murder. </p><p>Panchal ended his life by coming under a running train in Bidar on Thursday leaving a suicide note accusing the associates of Rural Development & Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge of making death threats.</p>
