Sitting MP and son of state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa B Y Raghavendra filed nomination papers as the BJP candidate from Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency with district election officer K S Dayananda on Thursday afternoon, in the absence of his father.

He was accompanied by his wife Tejaswini, MLAs H Halappa, K S Eshwarappa and MLC S Rudre Gouda. He arrived at the deputy commissioner's office in a road show that commenced from Ramanna Sresty Park.

Yeddyurappa and former chief minister S M Krishna were supposed to come to Shivamogga by air from Bengaluru. But due to some technical snag in the helicopter, they could not come.

'Only Rahul will die'

Molakalmuru MLA B Sriramulu has stirred controversy by saying that if Pakistan drops bomb on India, except Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, all other citizens of the country will survive.

He was speaking at the BJP election campaign meeting after Raghavendra filed nomination papers. Eshwarappa said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy must resign as he failed to protect the secrecy of income tax department's raids in Karnataka.
