<p>Bengaluru: Bescom’s decision to mandate Occupancy Certificate (OC) for power supply has left many property owners in a lurch and to address their concerns, the issue will be discussed in the cabinet meeting, Energy Minister K J George said on Tuesday.</p><p>George said that the decision was taken based on a government ruling and acknowledged that this has caused problems to many. He instructed the officials to chalk out possible solutions.</p><p>“Once officials prepare an appropriate resolution, a decision will be taken in the cabinet to address the public's concerns,” he said.</p>.Smart meters mandatory for all new and temporary connections: KERC.<p><strong>Regularisation of irrigation pumpsets </strong></p><p>To bring unauthorized agricultural irrigation pump sets under the legal framework, the state government has introduced an updated version of the Quick Connection Scheme, George said on Tuesday.</p><p>Accordingly, farmers who set up the necessary infrastructure on their own will be provided with transformers by ESCOMs (Electricity Supply Companies), enabling the regularization of their pump sets.</p><p>“If farmers arrange the line and other basic infrastructure at their own cost for unauthorized agricultural pump sets installed after September 22, 2023, ESCOMs will provide transformers for two or more pump sets and regularize them,” he said.</p><p>According to the statement by the Energy department, in 2023, there were 4.5 lakh unauthorized pump sets and the government decided to regularise the unauthorized pump sets that had been connected before September 22, 2023. So far, 2.5 lakh pumpsets have been regularised.</p><p>The revised Quick Connection Scheme applies to all agricultural pump sets located within 500 meters of the power grid. For pump sets located more than 500 meters away from the power grid, the installation of solar pump sets will be mandatory.</p>
