Chikkaballapur turns festive for its 10th birthday

As Chikkaballapur completes 10 years as a separate district, the district administration has planned a three-day gala celebration of the event from February 2, in the Sir M V district grounds, according to Deputy Commissioner Deepthi Kanade.  

Addressing media people on Tuesday, the DC said beginning with a pooja at the Nandi gram Bhoganandishwara temple at 6.30 am, several sports, cultural and religious functions will be held.  After the pooja taluk officers, gram panchayat officers, students and common people will all scale the Nandi hill.  

Aqua adventure sports and parasailing events will be held at the Kandawara lake and Srinivasanagar lake between 9 am to 6 pm in coordination with the Ministry of Sports and Youth Empowerment

Seminars will be held at Ambedkar Bhavan from 11 am to 3 pm on topics such as education, literature, women empowerment, healthcare, agriculture.  

A procession will be taken out on the first day from taluk office at 3 pm. Several tableaux will showcase the folk highlights of Chikkaballapur district.    

A commemorative issue containing articles of tourist interest on the district will be released at 4 pm on the first day.  A milking competition will be held during the festival by the Jai Bheem association.  

All three days cultural programmes will be held between 6 pm and 11.30 pm on the main dais. Local artistes will perform between 4 pm and 7 pm and noted artistes from other places after that.    

Among the several cultural programmes, dance drama by Prabhat Kalavidaru, Prince Dance Academy, 'Bhava Lahari' by Vinay Nadig troupe, pop music by Beat Gurus, classical by Prahlad Acharya are slated.  

Over 100 food and other stalls will be put up serving the best of food unique to the district. Others selling clothing, handicrafts, home produce, farming implements and cutlery were also be put up.
