<p class="title">A majority of the grievances aired by residents for redressal by the MLA centered around artificial floods, unscientific widening of the highway among others during Prajavani- Deccan Herald’s `Janaspandana’, organised at Srinivasa Mallya Rangamandira in Surathkal on Saturday. </p>.<p class="bodytext">H V Shenoy of Kodikkal Ganapathipura Layout Residents’ Committee and Felsiyana Fernandes, a resident of Mukka, said how the unscientific works on NH 66 had created flash floods and gave them sleepless nights.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Mangaluru North MLA Y Bharat Shetty responded by finding a solution to the problem after holding discussions with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A resident of Chokkabettu, T M Shreedhar said telecom firms had dumped huge cable bundles causing a lot of inconveniences to pedestrians using the Chokkabettu-Parameshwari Nagar Road.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Assistant Executive Engineer Ravi Shankar promised to have the huge cable bundles removed by contacting BSNL officials.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Krishnappa from Krishnapura complained about haphazard parking of vehicles on MGM Road.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Ravish, a resident, stressed the need to erect three humps on Malemar Road while another resident Ramesh complained that far too many autorickshaws were parked in the autorickshaw stand.</p>.<p class="bodytext">ACP (Traffic) Manjunath Shetty responded by promising to find a solution after making spot inspection.</p>.<p class="bodytext">AEE Ravi Shankar admitted that UGD (underground drainage works) were in poor shape in response to a complaint from M M Dhanraj about bad UGD network in Maruthi Nagar.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“Under Amrut scheme,<br />Rs 58 crore worth works will be taken up and these missing links problem will be solved after two years,” he assured.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The MLA responding to a request from Prof Krishnamurthy promised to upgrade the existing Suratkal public library.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“There is a plan to build a state-of-the art library with the help of MRPL and NITK,” he added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">When Stany D’Souza and Surendra Kumar sought better roads, AEE Ravi Shankar promised to include the works under `re-appropriation budget’.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Another resident Sashikumar complained how a builder had hoodwinked the corporation and had fled from the city after collecting lakhs of money from them.</p>
