Opposition leader in Legislative Council Kota Srinivas Poojary demanded that Chief Minister Kumaraswamy should apologise immediately for the offensive remarks that he made against the farmers women.

Poojary told reporters that he would appeal to the veteran politician Deve Gowda to advise his son on being polite and well-mannered as he is the chief minister entrusted with the responsibility to take the state forward.

“The prime duty of the chief minister is to look into the problems and respond to the grievances of the public. The farmers had a justifiable demand and wanted the government to fix a support price on sugarcane produce,” Poojary pointed out.

“Kumaraswamy had, prior to becoming chief minister, heavily condemned the remarks made by former chief minister Siddaramaiah after the death of the farmers. Now, however, Kumaraswamy is singing the same tune with his coalition partner,” he added.

Strongly condemning the delay in announcing the Rajyotsava Awards, the MLC questioned the integrity of the coalition government. “Initially, the government claimed that the election code of conduct was the reason for the delay for the presentation of Rajyotsava Awards. The government in delaying the announcement of award is ignoring writers, teachers, artists, and experts in other fields,” Poojary criticised. He urged government to announce the list of Rajyotsava awardees immediately.
