CM Siddaramaiah hints at quota system to fill up doctors’ posts

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday hinted at a reservation system to ensure representation to all communities while filling up doctors’ posts so as to address the shortage of doctors in government hospitals. 

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the construction of a 500-bed hospital on the premises of the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital here, he urged doctors to ensure care of patients without negligence. The hospital is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore. He said good government hospitals were required to serve the poor and the lower classes who cannot afford the services of private hospitals.

He directed officials and doctors present at the event to ensure that proper services were provided at the new hospital.
