The condition of former minister C C Patil, who has been shifted to Manipal Hospital, improved on Saturday. “He is recovering and his condition has improved,” Medical Director Dr Sudarshan Ballal, said.

Patil, was, on Saturday, visited by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and BSR Congress President Sriramalu. Sources said Shettar enquiring about Patil’s health, wished him speedy recovery besides speaking to his family members.

The minister was shifted to the City after he had trouble in breathing and his blood pressure also fluctuated. “We are still monitoring him and he will be kept in the intensive care unit for another 24 to 48 hours,” Dr Ballal said. “He can’t talk because he is on ventilator but recognises everybody,” he added.

The 55-year-old minister was wounded after his gunman opened fire accidentally when he was at a village in Ron Taluk, Gadag District, to attend a function. He was admitted at KLE’s Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Medical Sciences in Belgaum and shifted to Bangalore for better care and treatment.
