Congress, JD(S) against varsity land for judges

KPCC president G Parameshwara has termed the decision wrong and suggested the government to build quarters on any of the denotified land.

“If this happens, then as a alumnus of this institute, I will extend my support to the fight,” he said while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the UAS Alumni Global Meet here on Saturday. He said the agricultural land should not be allowed to be used for non-agricultural purpose.

However, Governor H R Bhardwaj, who inaugurated the meet refused to comment on the issue. JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy, speaking to reporters in Mysore alleged that the move was part of the larger conspiracy to transfer the UAS to private persons. He said the government had been taking unilateral decisions, leading to the tussle between the offices of the Chief Minister and the Governor.
