<p>Addressing a joint press conference in Bangalore, Home Minister V S Acharya and Law Minister Suresh Kumar said the crossed account payee cheques or demand drafts may be drawn in favour of “Karnataka Chief Minister’s Relief Fund - Calamity” and handed over personally or sent by post to the Deputy Commissioners of the districts concerned.<br />The cheques and DDs may also be sent to Bangalore on the following address: Karnataka Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Calamity), Office of the Chief Minister, Government of Karnataka, Vidhana Soudha, Bangalore-560 001.<br /><br />Contributions made to the CM’s Relief Fund are eligible for exemption under the Income Tax Act, Acharya said.<br /><br />The government has also requested the public to join the relief effort by donating new clothes, like dhotis, sarees, shirts, blankets, etc.<br /><br />The clothes may be deposited in the office of the tahsidlars of the respective taluks or Municipal Commissioners and receipts may be obtained for the same.<br /><br />Suresh Kumar said a counter will also be opened at the Bala Brooie Guest House in Bangalore to collect the relief material. <br /><br />The collection counter will function round the clock from Monday.<br /><br />Meanwhile, the Jain Association has decided to donate 25,000 blankets and sarees for the affected people.<br /></p>
