Council chairman says no to debate on Lokayukta

Legislative Council Chairman D H Shankarmurthy on Thursday set aside the notice submitted by the Opposition seeking a debate on the removal of Lokayukta Justice Bhaskar Rao. 

Defending his action, Shankarmurthy said the Opposition members had failed to furnish evidence/documents substantiating their allegations against Rao. He added that he had also consulted legal experts who had advised him against allowing such a discussion. The Chairman, said he would allow a discussion on the matter on Monday.
