<p>Over two lakh people including the locals are estimated to have witnessed the procession of the Dashamantapas. Each of the Dashamantapa was distinct and outdid the other in terms of size, design, size and concept thereby enthralling the spectators.<br /><br />Pete Sri Rama Mandira had taken the responsibility of Dashamantapas. The temple has been taking lead of the event since 150 years now, right from the era when Kodagu was ruled by Haleri dynasty.<br /><br />The spectators felt that Sri Rama Mandira’s depiction of ‘Varahavathari Vishnu saving Bhoodevi’ was the best of the lot. The mantapas left the temple and reached Kundurumotte Sri Chautimariyamma temple and offered ritualistic prayers there. From here the main mantapa was followed by Kundurumotte Sri Chautimariyamma temple’s depiction of ‘Bhandasura Vadhe’.‘Mahavishnumaye’ of Gaulibeedi Sri Kanchi Kamakshi temple, ‘Shanmukha killing Tharakasura’ of Chikkapete Sri Dandi Mariyamma temple, ‘Dakshayajna’ works from ‘Shivapurana’ by Kote Mariyamma temple became a part of the Dashamantapa shobhayatre.<br /><br />‘Makaradurga killing Tilasura’ of Mahadevapete Sri Chaudeshwari temple, ‘Seethanveshana’ by Dechuru Sri Ram Mandira, ‘Ugra Roopi Ganapati v/s Yamadharmaraja’ by Kote Sri Mahaganapathy, ‘Shiva Bhakta Markandeya’ by Mallikarjunanagara Sri Kodandarama temple, ‘Mahishasuramardini’ by Karavale Badaga Mahishasuramrdini temple enthralled the devotees.<br /><br />Meanwhile, according to the ritual, the Mantap Committees offered prayers to the ‘Karagas’ of four shakti devatas-Sri Kundurumotte Chautimariyamma, Sri Kanchi Kamakshiyamma, Sri Dandina MAriyamma and Sri Kote Mariyamma temples. <br /><br />Decorations<br />The entire city was decorated with lights and embellishments to host the historic Madikeri Dasara festival. Not just the temples, even government buildings, commercial complexes, private buildings and many houses were embellished for the festival, adding to glitz.<br />Security was beefed up so as to avoid any untoward incident.<br /></p>
