<p>Mysuru: Daughters of daily wage worker, single parent and an urban planner who bagged the highest number of laurels in the 105th Convocation of University of Mysore, shared that they derived happiness in their parents' pride by realising their dreams. Hardwork is the key for success, they added.</p><p>M R Bhoomika bagged highest of 22 laurels in the Convocation including 18 gold medals and four cash prizes with first rank in M Sc General Chemistry. She is the daughter of late B N Ravikumar and H A Nethravathi and a resident of Hebbal second stage in Mysuru. </p><p>Bhoomika who lost her father in 2020 due to cardiac arrest, shoulders the responsibility of family and a younger brother who is in first PUC. Bhoomika says that the hardships of life shaped her as a strong individual and gave her the will power and determination to work hard and achieve this success and realise her father's dream. She has already cleared KSET - 2024 ( assistant professor examination) plans to take up PHd and take up even Civil service exams. She is doing her B.Ed. "My parents were illiterates. Hence they wanted me, my elder brother Somesh and elder sister Soubhagya to study well as they did not want us to face the hardships which they experienced. Rather than medals, seeing the pride in the eyes of my parents has made me happier. With hardwork, any one can achieve anything irrespective of their background and where they study," Kavya shared. </p><p>Kavyashree Umakanth Attavar also bagged second highest of 16 laurels that is 16 gold medals in M Tech in Urban and Regional Planning. Daughter of Umakanth Suvarna and Shailashree, wife of Dr Gautham Konikar, a native of Mangaluru and resident of Mysuru, Kavya is the lecturer in Urban Planning in School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) of UoM. Her M Tech Best Thesis gold medal award project was based on her home town Mangaluru titled "Spatial Planning for Climate Resilient Coastal City: A case study of Mangaluru". </p><p>The study involved extensive analysis using various remote sensing and GIS toolkits on rainfall flooding, sea level rise and climate change. She plans to do PhD in the same subject. She even wants to pursue Civil service exams to serve as Urban planner. It was a double celebration for Kavya as her husband Gautham, a lecturer in Urban planning in SPA of UoM, who had bagged all the gold medals in M Tech in Urban and Regional Planning way back in 2017, was also awarded PhD in Urban planning in the Convocation. </p><p>Sharing the credit of her success with her parents, husband, family and guide Prof H S Kumara, she said that she is happy to realise their dreams .
