DC asks officials to complete work on Heritage Centre

Deputy Commissioner P I Sreevidya directed the PWD engineer to complete work on Kodava Heritage Centre soon.

Chairing the district tourism development committee meeting at the DC’s office on Thursday, she said that the work on the centre should have been complete by now. However, there has been an inordinate delay in the completion of the work.

Expressing her discomfiture with the delay, Sreevidya ordered the concerned official to blacklist the tenderee of the work.

The deputy commissioner insisted on completing works on the construction of steps, railings and parking facilities at Abbey and Mallalli waterfalls.

“Also, work on providing basic facilities at Tavarekere in Kushalnagar should be taken up,” she added.

Tourism Department assistant director C Jagannath said that works on the development of the road connecting Nalkunadu palace, parking facilities and related works at Irpu falls, hanging bridge in Dubare will be taken up.

He further said that 31 applications have been received from candidates belonging to SC and ST communities for tourist taxis.

Homestay and Resort Owners Association district president Nagendra Prasad said that illegal homestays should be provided with a chance to register with the Tourism Department.

Chamber of Commerce district unit president B N Prakash, DCF Jaya, district health and family welfare officer Dr Rajesh, CMC commissioner Ramesh and RTO Soundarya were present among others.
