Devara Dasimayya jayanthi celebrations

Vachana writer Devara Dasimayya had propagated equality in society, said Tobacco Board President T P Ramesh.

Speaking after inaugurating Devara Dasimayya Jayanthi celebrations in Madikeri on Wednesday, he said weavers community should be united to avail facilities from the government and also come to the mainstream of society.  He called upon weaving community members to educate their wards.

Lecturer B C Shankarayya said that there is a need to conduct an in depth study on Vachanas written by  Devara Dasimayya.

Welfare of society

The vachana poet of 11th century in his writings has observed that through honesty and dedication one could contribute to the greater good and welfare of society.
