Dinesh Gundu Rao promises to discuss simplifying building construction rules with UD Minister

Mangaluru: To resolve the issues pertaining to delays in granting permissions for construction of houses and various buildings, Health and Family Welfare Minister and Dakshina Kannada District In-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said he would discuss simplifying the rules with the Urban Development Minister.

Speaking at a meeting after launching various development works in Sullia, at the Sullia Urban Development Authority on Wednesday, he said that several public grievances and complaints have been received from citizens and elected representatives regarding delays in getting approval for construction of houses due to the need to comply with numerous regulations during the approval of plots, building plans, khata, Form 9/11, single-site approval, and so on. An Urban Development Authority is essential for the scientific development of any town. However, the government is concerned that the public should not face hardships because of it. Therefore, efforts will be made to simplify the rules and provide quicker approvals, he said.

He added that disputes related to revenue and forest land during site approval processes further delay the approval. He instructed that the Revenue and Forest Departments should conduct joint surveys to address the disputes at the earliest.

The Minister said that the government will not tolerate unnecessary delays in clearing applications submitted under 94C and that these procedures must be completed within the stipulated time.

Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya presided over the programme. Sullia Town Panchayat President Shashikala, DK Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority District President Bharath Mundodi, DCF Anthony S Mariyappa, and others were present.

Development works

The Minister inaugurated a new office of the Panchayat Raj Engineering Subdivision, the Public Health Lab Block and new mortuary at Sullia Taluk Hospital, the office building of Social Forestry, and the Sullia Urban Development Authority office.

He also distributed Sandhya Suraksha and Old Age Pension approval letters to beneficiaries. Compensation cheques were distributed to farmers affected by wild elephant attacks.
