JD(S) never tried to destabilise govt for political mileage

Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has urged Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar to dissolve the Assembly, making way for fresh elections in the State.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, he said “the State government is merely wasting its time. Instead, it would be better to go for elections. The State has not seen any development work in the last few months owing to the internal fights in the BJP. The State is lagging behind in using the funds meant for the welfare of the people.”

Supporters of the former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa were indulging in a constant fight for power for the past several months, he said and added that the JD(S) never made any attempt to destabilise the State government for gaining political mileage. It was internal fight in the BJP which is responsible for destabilising the government.

“The BJP government in the State had supported the bandh opposing the hike in the price of diesel and cap on subsidised LPG cylinders. The state government should reduce the cess on petroleum product to give marginal relief to consumers who pay the highest price for petrol.

In the name of waiving loans borrowed by the farmers in drought hit taluks, the State government has increased VAT. Having failed to reduce the burden on the commonman, the State government does not have any moral right speak against the Centre,” he added.

The BJP government had failed to provide relief to people who were hit hard by drought. About 155 taluks in the State are reeling under drought situation.
The Centre has unearthed Rs 600 crore worth scam in the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

If the scheme was implemented effectively, then migration of people from drought hit taluks could have been avoided, he said.

Organic farming

Kumaraswamy said that the government had announced Rs 200 crore each during the last two years to promote organic farming in the State. Unfortunately, only Rs 18 crore has been utilised so far.

“However, as the election is nearing, the State government is conspiring to release Rs 200 crore to Amritha Bhoomi Trust , which will have RSS members in it, to support organic farmers,” he said. 

Convention

Later, in the JD(S) convention, former minister and Coastal Development Authority former chairman B Nagaraj Shetty joined the JD(S).

Speaking at the convention, Kumaraswamy said that the commonman needs a roof over head and food for living and not revolution in the religion.

“There was an allegation that there is infight within the JD(S) and is strong in a few parts of Mysore.

The convention is being organised to ensure that JD(S) is strenegthened in the BJP’s strong hold Dakshina Kannada. The Janata Dal(Secular) will come back to power once again in the State.”
