Dramatic rescue of Mantralayam seer

Scores of devotees too were trapped for hours in the town marooned by the overflowing Tungabhadra river. They were later rescued by IAF and emergency personnel. Many train services, including the Rajdhani Express, have been hit as tracks have been washed away. Road and communication links too have snapped.

20 feared buried alive

Meanwhile, around 20 people were feared dead in a landslide at Madibagh in Karwar taluk on Friday following torrential rain. According to reports reaching here, seven houses situated at the foothill caved in following a heavy landslide. Rain and darkness have hampered rescue operations. The identity of those buried in the landslide is not yet known.
