<p> <br />For the first time in the State, it has come forward to realise the concept of a paper-free office by utilising free text messaging service, which helps check unnecessary administrative costs and undue delays.<br /><br />The idea was mooted by Zilla Panchayat CEO Anthony Medonsa. <br /><br />Speaking to Deccan Herald here on Tuesday, Anthony Medonsa said, “Many institutions (ISPs) which give internet services, also provide e-mail and chat facility including free text messaging, from computer to mobile. We have made use of that service. We can send SMS simultaneously, within a fraction of second, to the 190 mobile numbers, including 134 secretaries of the Gram Panchayat and other officials in the district.”<br /><br />Moreover, we get the required information from all the secretaries of Gram Panchayat, within a fraction of a second, through the SMS service. Hence there is no need to wait for long to get the reply, he explained.<br /><br />The Zilla Panchayat has used the ‘way2 SMS’ service which is provided by Google. It has added mobile numbers of the Gram Panchayat secretaries in the service. <br /><br />Text messages (SMS) can be sent to secretaries who are located in a particular taluk.<br /><br />Besides this, the Zilla Panchayat has also used wireless facility to pass on instructions, and to get information from a particular staff during emergency, he said.<br /></p>
