Anwar Manippady claims he received threat calls after Waqf remarks

Mangaluru :  Anwar Manippady, former chairman of Karnataka State Minorities Commission claimed that he had received multiple threat calls on Thursday night. 

Speaking to DH, Manippady said that the callers spoke in English, Hindi, Kannada, Tulu and Malayalam.

“There were internet calls and I could not trace the callers. One of them spoke in a foreign accent, suggesting an international link. Their language was threatening in nature. One of them said “Dont think you can get away,” recited Manippady. 

 “I am sure the calls were made after Waqf Bill was passed in Lok Sabha as I had submitted a report on Waqf properties encroachments to Karnataka government in the past.” 

When asked on whether he filed a complaint, he said “I spoke to Commissioner of Police informed him on the threat calls. The police should take immediate action,” he demanded. 

Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal said that the police have not received any complaint so far on threat calls.
