Failure to stop donations in schools slammed

Is education dept colluded with christian institutions fleecing money?

Addressing media here on Saturday, the representatives of the samsthe levelled grave allegations on the DDPI saying ‘the authority has not reacted on any complaints made so far against the institutions fleecing money in the name of donation’. When, the office was contacted to air a complaint on an earlier occasion, the readymade answer was ‘please give the complaint in writing’.

Being government servants and paid from tax payer’s money, why can’t they act on their own volition?  The office-bearers of the samsthe questioned. This definitely casts aspersion on the integrity of the bureaucracy, they added.

Taking the name of a few schools run under the banner of Christian institutions, samsthe president D Gnanaprakash said they are functioning in violation of the rules, bringing disrepute to the Christian institutions who are rendering yeoman services.

Having given licence for Kannada medium of instruction, the schools are teaching in English. Moreover, they are receiving huge donation under ‘Foreign Currency Received Act’ and also unlimited fund under another programme to conduct free education. However, in reality, the intended funds are diverted towards construction of buildings.

Honorary president J Jayaraj alleged that those schools are rolling red carpets only for students from the elite families, at the cost of the needy in the vicinity.

The samsthe warned of launching a protest against all these issues, besides petitioning the authorities concerned seeking their intervention.
