<p>Madikeri: A farmer died after being attacked by a wild elephant in Dabbadka of Chembu village in Madikeri taluk on Wednesday night.</p><p>The deceased has been identified as one Shivappa (72), a native of Koppa.</p><p>The incident took place near his residence. A seriously injured Shivappa died on the way to hospital.</p><p>Villagers and relatives of Shivappa staged a protest in front of Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences (KoIMS) where the body was kept. </p>.Vantara comes forward to set up rehab for elephant Madhuri in Kolhapur.<p>Virajpet MLA and Chief Minister's Legal advisor A S Ponnanna consoled the locals.</p><p>Chembu Gram Panchayat President Teertharama said that the wild elephants have been roaming around in Chembu, Urubaili, Dabbadka, Kanthabailu, Kudurepaya and surrounding regions.</p><p>People are scared to come out of their houses. The wild elephant which attacked and killed the farmer should be captured, he added.</p>
