<p>The three districts of Hassan, Mandya and Chamarajnagar observed Police Flag Day on Monday to commemorate the service and sacrifice of police officers.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Speaking at a programme in Chamarajanagar, deputy commissioner K R Sundar said service of police in protecting law and order and public wealth is laudable.<br /><br /> He said, “cops work morning and night just for security of society. <br /><br />Many times they don’t even bother about their lives to maintain peace. Public should also co operate with them.”<br /><br />Superintendent of Police P Rajendraprasad said, to remember service of retired cops and encourage police officials, flag day is celebrated attempting good relationship with public.<br /><br />Every year police flags are sold and fund is collected. The money is used for benefit of retired and working cops. It is used for welfare of cops, to meet their medical and other expenses. This year four staff have been given Rs 17,799 for medical expense, he said.<br /><br />Retired police staff P Mahadevappa, N Raju, K Mahadevaiah, Joseph, K Raju, Chowdaiah, B Puttappa, S Radhakrishna, N C Gopanna, B G Basavanna, K Kambadasaiah, N Nagaraju, G L Guruswamy, T Thimmaiah and Shivanna were felicitated.<br /><br />Retired DySP C Joseph and additional SP K H Chandrashekar were present.<br /><br />In Hassan<br /><br />Addressing the audience at the flag day in Hassan, superintendent of police Amit Singh said it is everybody’s duty to remember policemen as they have strived to maintain law and order in the society. <br /><br />Police officers are always faced with pressures and in many cases lose their life while serving the people. He said funds earned from selling flags would be used for the welfare of retired police officers.<br /><br />Probationary Martin, retired police officer Dasegowda and others were present.<br /><br />In Mandya<br /><br />Dy SP M K Utthappa opined that cordial relations between police department and the public is necessary to provide better service. Speaking at a programme in Mandya, he said during 2010-11, retired police welfare fund had medical assistance for 40 police officers.<br /><br />Retired sub inspector Chikkaraju, additional superintendent of police Rajanna, MySugar factor president Nagarajappa and others were present.<br /><br /></p>
