K N Keshave Gowda was trapped on July 18, 2007 by the Lokayukta when he was accepting a bribe of Rs 1,400 from one Abdul Hameed to issue permission to transport charcoal.

The sleuths had then filed a charge sheet. The court on March 26, 2009, found Gowda guilty of the offence and sentenced him to one year simple imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000. Default of payment would result in simple imprisonment of another three months.
