Former H D Kote MLA dies after prolonged illness

Former MLA M P Venkatesh died of prolonged illness at a hospital, here, on Saturday. He was 61.

Venkatesh was undergoing treatment at Vikram Hospital at Yadavgiri for kidney related ailments. The end came in the early hours on Saturday. The mortal remains of Venkatesh was taken to his hometown H D Kote and was kept at his house in Housing Board Colony for sometime to enable relatives and supporters pay their last respects. The body was later brought to Mysuru and last rites performed at the crematorium near the foot of Chamundi Hill.

Profile
A two time MLA, Venkatesh had represented H D Kote Assembly constituency in the Legislative Assembly during 1989 and 2004 from Samajvadi Janata Party (SJP) and Janata Dal (Secular) respectively. Venkatesh’s father Peeranna was a three time MLA from the same constituency.

Venkatesh had strove for Taraka lift irrigation project among others for the benefit of the agrarian community. A bachelor, Venkatesh was living with his brother’s family at Old Santhepet, in Mysuru.
