Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday, the Minister said that he has already written a letter to Union Government in this regard. A stock of 4.5 lakh tonnes has been maintained in the State at present. A written request has been made to the Centre to provide another four lakh tonne in view of the requirements, he stated.

He informed that necessary steps have been taken to avoid scarcity of fertilisers and sowing seeds during monsoon. State has a stock of 10 lakh tonne sowing seeds at present.
The minister expressed displeasure that farmers were protesting in Davangere despite announcing scientific support price for paddy.

“It is the Union Government which fixes the support price. However, I will write a letter to the Centre seeking revision of the support price in the wake of farmers’ protest,” Ravindranath said.
