Gandhi statue desecrated

 
The statue was installed in the memory of Gandhi’s visit to the place in 1935. In fact, Gandhi had addressed the public at the venue.

Every year, Gandhi Jayanthi and Independence Day is celebrated under the guidance of Gandhikatte In-charge Committee at the venue.

In fact, the new statue was installed at the venue after renovating the Gandhikatte eight years ago.

Gandhi Samithi office-bearers have flayed the incident and urged authorities to initiate action against the culprits at the earliest.

Puttur Assistant Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar said action will be taken against the culprits.
