Gas, milk tankers collide, two killed

A man died on the spot and another was burnt alive when a gas tanker rammed a stationary milk tanker near Hanumapur-Shettigehalli bypass road of National Highway - 48 on Monday.

One of the dead has been identified as Suresh from Sholapur in Maharashtra and the driver of the gas tanker was charred beyond recognition, police said.

Suresh, with his brother Chandrakanth, was transporting milk from Channarayapatna to Bangalore and had parked the tanker on the road side for repair.

The gas tanker from Mangalore rammed the milk tanker. Both the vehicles overturned and their engines caught fire.  Suresh died on the spot.

The driver of the gas tanker was burnt alive and his identity couldn’t be ascertained, the police said.

As the fire personnel arrived in time, the gas tanker did not catch fire, said the police.
