Gavisiddappa murder: Alleged lover's mother files POCSO case against family of deceased Koppal youth

According to the FIR, the girl became friends with Gavisiddappa in 2024 when she started attending a computer classes. The girl's mother claimed that Gavisiddappa forced her to love him and sexually exploited her multiple time.

Koppal: The murder case of Gavisiddappa Nayak, a resident of Kurubar Oni in Koppal, took a drastic turn with the mother of the alleged lover registering a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case against the deceased youth's family.

The mother of the 16-year-old girl who was allegedly in love relationship with Gavisiddappa, claimed that Gavisiddappa used to sexually harass her daughter since 2024. She also told the police that his family members didn't try to stop him; instead they threatened to kill the her if they made an issue out of it.

On Saturday, days after the murder, the minor's mother filed a complaint against the youth's family members, including Gavisiddappa's father, mother and sister. The complaint was recorded at the women police station in Koppal.

Earlier, on August 3, Gavisiddappa (23) was hacked to death in front of a mosque by four Muslim youths being identified as Sadiq Kolkar, Gesudaraj Patel, Mohammed Nizamuddin, and Mehboob Sikkalgar.

Gavisiddappa belonged to the Valmiki community but was reportedly in relationship with a Muslim girl.

According to the FIR, the girl became friends with Gavisiddappa in 2024 when she started attending a computer classes.

“When I came to know about the alleged relationship of the two, I confronted both the boy and his parents. Instead of addressing the issue and leaving my daughter alone, both the boy and his parents threatened to kill us,” the FIR read.

The girl's mother alleged that Gavisiddappa forced her daughter to love him and sexually exploited her multiple times.

On the contrary, the family members of the deceased youth claimed that their son was murdered because the girl was in love with him.

Members of the Muslim community have urged the Karnataka government and the police to take strict action against all those involved in encouraging Gavisiddappa of sexually harassing the minor girl.

Meanwhile, Bijapur MLA Basavaraj Patil Yatnal seemed to fan the flames over the issue by announcing Rs 5 lakhs to Hindu youths who marry Muslim girls.
