A video clipping of a young girl being slapped by the police personnel for arguing with them during routine vehicle checking, has gone viral on social media, on Tuesday.

Traffic police were on a routine checking at Besagarahalli Ramanna Circle in Mandya. They stopped the girl, a BEd student and a model, who was riding her two-wheeler without wearing helmet. After verifying the documents, the police imposed fine for violation. The girl claimed that she had no cash and will pay fine through digital payment.

The police did not agree and tried to seize the vehicle. This irked the girl, who started shouting at the police personnel not to take the vehicle. It was at this time, the women’s police sub-inspector slapped the girl and used foul language.

The girl also started shouting at the police for assaulting her, using singular term, much to the embarrassment of the police as the public gathered around them.

Superintendent of Police Ashwini said, “The digital payment mode is yet to be introduced for collecting fine. Hence, they demanded cash. There is a mistake from both the sides. The girl’s parents have given an apology letter. I have also ordered for a probe.”
